So now you’re running wild
Hayley’s return to Mystic Falls hadn’t exactly gone smoothly when she’d first landed on the doorstep to the Salvatore boarding house. She remembered the look of sheer surprise on Kat’s face when she’d congratulated her on her pregnancy, only to realise the mother to be wasn’t herself aware of it yet. Well, it couldn’t be helped, and a werewolf’s nose was more reliable than a pharmacy test. Nonetheless she had appreciated their generosity in allowing her to stay, days turned to weeks and weeks turned to months before Hayley realised she couldn’t think of any reason for her to get another place. No good reason to pay rent.
Furthermore, she had on some level grown fond of the family, not just from looking after little Romeo, but also feeling a bond with all those who dwelled here, and growing accustomed to the comings and goings of friends, guests and on the rare occasion, intruders. In particular though, lately, she felt drawn to Serena, Stefan’s daughter. Rini, as she was nicknamed struck her as a little lonely, even within her own family, or how you had the impression you were disappointing everyone, and it pained her to remember just how familiar that feeling was. The she-wolf felt an urge both to protect her and befriend her. Perhaps she could be the little sister she never had.
There was a party tonight with some of the local teens and young adults that Hayley had been planning on going to. It occurred to her she should invite Rini and see if she wanted to tag along. The moon was waxing and Hayley could feel her strength grow each day, so she had no real concerns about their respective safeties. Especially since she knew several representatives of Mystic Falls’s supernatural residents would be there.
Making her way up to Serena’s room, she knocked softly on the door even though it was partially open, leaning back against the door frame with her arms folded across her chest and a slightly mischievous smirk playing on her face.
“Hey. Are you busy?”
