i used to ask myself that question all the time but everything ive been reading and writing has been in 3rd so i've developed an automatic sense for third pers. lately. so ye thats me pretty much saying i'd go with third

but if first is your forte, you could always do that. first for me tends to get too focused and draggy while 3rd lets you pan out more

I've been writing in third person for a long time now, I almost never do first anymore, I think the last serious time I did first was like five years ago now?? so part of me wants to experiment with it again and see what kind of character it would lend to the fic, but idk, like you said, you can pan out a lot more with third... OTL

Spring Awakening's about a bunch of teens in 1800s-era Germany; the main characters are Wendla Bergmann, a young girl who is growing into herself and wants to know about more adult things, like sex; Moritz Stiefel, a scatterbrained boy who doesn't do well in school and is growing more and more uncomfortable and distracted bc he keeps having sex dreams; and Melchior Gabor, a radical thinker who reads up on politics and philosophy and knows all there is to know about everything, or so it seems. It's triggering for abuse, I'd imagine, and there's a scene with dubcon, but mostly it's about these kids trying to learn about themselves and about sex in a society that's very unforgiving to people who try to think outside the box. this makes it sound awful omg but it's actually super interesting and the music is amazing, I absolutely love the soundtrack so much. :D
