One Mile Studios - Donavan Delaney

Last Friday via Zoom I got to attend a presentation by Donavan Delaney creative director and motion designer for One Mile Studios. One mile is a motion graphics company set up by Delaney in 2014.
His presentation was really inspiring and has shown me how there is so many different oppurtunites and directions to go into when working with motion design.
Delaney spoke about wanting to make something that people would remember. It something that we as artists all have to drive for- making memorable art. He also gave really strong advice about working in this industry such a putting a structure in place, sticking to an idea, and using the tools you know work. Most importantly always adding your own creative input (share your own ideas) to create further oppurtunities.
The quick growth of this new studio is really impressive. One mile has done work for numerous well known brands including comercial work for the Late Late Toy show, the Transport for Ireland Inclusion campaign, Ryanair, and most notably working with eirsport for Rugby World Cup.
The opening intro designed for World Cup 2019 is just outstanding. I find the concept of designing lotus petals to represent each country appealing. The jounrney of the blooming lotus flower and it’s journey to the top of Mt. Fuj is engaging and draws us in.
Overall this presentation showed me how there is so many exciting and uniquely different options for working in animation and motion design.
