New Fic: The Woods Path

Title: The Woods Path

Length: ~14,000 words

Chapters: 6

Genre: Mystery

Summary: While on a brief holiday in the country, Sherlock attempts to solve a ninety year old case.

Note: This story was commissioned by oneofthoselunatics. She asked me to write a Sugarverse story using "The Musgrave Ritual" as inspiration, in which she specified a casefic in the country and a derelict castle. I used that as my starting point, and this is the end result.

Although it's set in Sugarverse, it's not necessary to have read the entire series to read this. It's set in 2028, which puts Sherlock at 50 and John at 55 if I did the internal math for the series properly.

This is a slightly different type of casefic than I normally write. I wanted to keep it closer to the original style of story - shorter and almost more introspective.

Reorganizing my ficrecs page was quite a nightmare and I don't even have that many! But I have been wanting to do it for so long that I just had ASIP playing in the background and that helped me go through it hahahha. I now have to finish properly tagging all my old posts and then I think i'm done changing stuff for like at least 6 months. :))

OH FFFFFFF. I managed to answer all the questions and my computer froze. fffffffff. As I was saying before I was rudely interrupted, I don't usually answer these things because it just makes me realise how boring, uneventful and lonely my life (me) is. but here it goes.

1. Favorite book and why (if that can be explained)?

The Mill on the Floss by George Eliot. I fell in love with Maggie Tulliver as soon as I met her (bookwise). I'm deeply connected to that character.

2. Lanterns or Lava Lamps?

Boring lanterns.

3. What is one of your most vivid childhood memories that is neither especially good nor especially bad, just one of those sort-of-there ones (that you feel comfortable sharing)?

Running on the edge of a pool at some family friend's summer house and the scent of burnt sugar coming from the house.

4. Do you recycle?

Yes!

5. If I told you to paint a picture right this very moment, what would you paint?

Something involving dark water.

6. Why do you admire the person you admire most?

I admire many people because of different things. In general what I admire the most is discipline and the ability to not let their feelings get in the way.

7. What is the word that feels best on your tongue?

It's in spanish and it represents how I feel about my life: intrascendente. I use it almost daily. And it has a nice ring to it. 

8. What is the answer to the first question that pops into your head?

Because I can't let go.

9. How did you get where you are today?

I guess the biggest impact on my life was realising I didn't want to study what I was studying and was making me quite miserable, and facing my parents about it. Also, meeting some people  - 2 in particular - that just changed my world. They don't know they did but they are in my heart and mind forever.

10. If you were abruptly transported into a fanfiction, which one would it be?

Awesome question girl <3 Depends on my role on the fanfiction. But I'd really love to be in The Paradox Series.

11. When are you happiest?

When I make someone happy or help them in any way.
