Out of all the weird things he’d done for someone else, this wasn’t anywhere near the weirdest. Probably not even top one hundred, honestly. Truth was: Charlie loved trash. He was too enthusiastic when this person had asked him to go dumpster diving for something for him. Honestly, he probably would’ve been going through their trash even if they didn’t make a personal request for them to.Said person had followed him back to the dumpster, watching him root through the disgusting trash. None of it seemed to bother him though, not the sludge, not the smell, not the rot. All of that was like home to him. No one except Frank understood it, and he especially didn’t expect this person to get it.❝ Some of this stuff is so sweet man, ❞ He’s arms deep in a trash bag, feeling his way around. ❝ Like this! I can’t believe you’d throw this away! ❞ Charlie proudly holds up a tape deck. A little worn, definitely out of style, but still fixable. He sets it aside in the bin as he keeps digging deep. He’d take some of this stuff home– not as much as he’d want to take home, of course, he had a limited living space and too much experience with hoarding– and some of it he’d… Hide, or donate, or stash in the bar or something. He liked putting useful stuff (junk) in the crawlspace at Paddy’s, but no one was supposed to know that.❝ Oh shit, is this it? ❞ Charlie asked as he grabbed onto soft fabric, grabbing tight and pulling it out of the bag. It tore a little on the way out, but he didn’t seem to notice that he was the one who did it. Hand on the side of the dumpster, he vaulted out, holding the fabric out in-front of him to the stranger proudly. This was so sweet, someone counted on him to get something done. And guess what? He did it. And he got to go through trash! ❝ Don’t worry about the like, rip right there. You can just– ❞ he made the motions of sewing (poorly) with the tee in his hands. It probably didn’t come across well, or like, at all. ❝ –that right up and it’ll look good as new. Trust me, I’ve been patching up my clothes like, basically my whole life. ❞
