to tag onto the "they're just some guys" conversation: speaking as a 30 year old (well, i'll be turning 30 later this month) metalhead.... we never stop finding toilet humor funny. Eddie would /love/ toilet humor. as well as dick jokes. he would seductively tell Steve he'd need to tell him something, let him get closer, and then burp in his ear. Steve would then push Eddie off the couch. Eddie would throw his sock at Steve. Dustin would groan and complain they're a couple of children, causing both of them to throw popcorn at Dustin while Steve tells him to shut up
Yes!
Thinking about the humor surrounding the adults I grew up around (the nerdy metalhead drug dealers) I just know Eddie would be absolutely insufferable well into his 50s when it came to a joke.
And like, the kids could probably cope if it was just Eddie, they’re all grown now, have kids of their own, they could deal with childish Uncle Eddie.
But once Eddie gets started he ropes Steve into it. And once Steve is in it you know Robin’s not far behind. Even if they complain and roll their eyes at first.
So while the party thought Steve and Eddie were bad enough when they were young they are the worst when they’re older. They tease the niblings by butchering memes. Steve gets tired of being in arguments with geniuses and just responds to everything with “Your mom.” Eddie licks his hand and wipes it on whoever is in his sight’s face. Steve still sticks gum under tables when he’s on autopilot. Eddie slips his sneakers on without socks whenever he just needs to make ‘a quick run’ and Steve hates that so much he hides all of Eddie’s shoes (backfires because then Eddie does it to Steve’s shoes). Steve eats handfuls of lunch meat right out of the fridge with the door open at 2 AM. Eddie shoves his hand full down his pants to readjust his dick.
