Murder Drones Oni Press's "Home" Tracing
Before I start I want to make one thing clear, DO NOT use this post as a reason to harass the Oni Press artists , I'm sure they tried their best with what resources they had. Tracing is generally frowned upon in the artist community, for published pieces at least, however the only traced thing appears to be the actual Glitch episode which it's adapting and that is very different from say tracing an other artist that is unrelated.
With all that being said lets see how many panels are actually traced.
Lol literally the first proper drawn panel and it's traced. So from what I can tell from the tracing it seem to just be for the sketch layer and they do actually alter a few things to actually make it there own but the red lines I add show where the shots line up exactly.
Ended up just combining these panels into one comparison for the sake of keeping the image count down. The backgrounds seem the most traced so far but the front drone head was traced, the rest of the body seem to be drawn themself. I did need to move the guys body to the left a bit to line it up.
The shelves and bottles are traced and honestly I can't blame them those shelves are evil, I know cause I've drawn them too.
This one might be a bit of a stretch but they do line up oddly well.
Again only the head is traced.
the background is traced and so is Tessa. The fact Tessa is traced makes it so this is actually a panel were Tessa looks good, the humans look very odd in this comic.
So only the horse is traced but I wanted to point out they took J's whale plushie away which is a crime. /j
If your gonna trace you could at least trace the doll house too, why's my girl in the brown void.
The reason Uzi's hair is sticking up is straight up because they used a frame where her hair is still moving I can't. Had to rotate a few things to fit better, this is also a great example why tracing can be bad, V looks very off because she's just traced and the artist didn't use their knowledge of how to pose a character in 3d. Not strictly related to the tracing but it's impressive that even when it's trace the designs are still off, Uzi's triangle chest screen is white, her under shirt is missing, so are her sweater logos, she's gained a belt? and N has black pants and shoes.
Almost didn't add this one as it's such a small thing but I realized I was counting all the tracing.
Oh boy I'm at the image limit of tumblr so I'm gonna have to continue in the reblogs, I'm only half way done by the way. I want to mention this also, this is ONLY the traced drawings there are a few 1 to 1 recreations of shots that don't appear to be traced, a lot of them actually, but I don't feel like pointing them all out as I'd almost just post the whole comic at that point.
