Spoilers for the anime OniAi
I’ll be honest, this show wasn’t fully my vibe, but harems rarely are. Anytime you get a moment of development between the main pairing, it’s usually undercut or smothered by all the other potential love interests. That’s just how it is with these kind of shows. But even with that said, I did respect how committed it was to having the lead girl Akiko so completely and openly in love and wanting to be with her brother. There was zero dancing around the topic, and she never strayed from it. I like that and they had some sweet moments together. Then we get the final episode where we actually do start to see some reciprocation from her brother Akito, that it indeed might be mutually romantic. And that would have been good enough for me. Not super my type of show but I could be fondly content with it- only for it to literally in the last minute of the whole thing, during the end credits, reveal that they aren’t actually related.
Utter bullshit. I’m so annoyed about this.
And apparently they DO end up together in the manga. So clearly they did want to tell a romance story about siblings, they were also just too spineless to actually fully go through with it and pulled a “but not actually”. This shit pisses me off.
