in the human world, it's a common setsubun practice for people to toss roasted soybeans to ward off demons or any other spirits, usually oni though. in some regions a sardine head is impaled on a holly branch and hung on the door.
to onigumo and onigama, do these warding methods actually do anything?
(these are real practices, they're called mamemaki and hiiragi iwashi respectively)
