The question had plagued her throughout the entire evening. Her cousin had hosted the party to celebrate another one of her many accomplishments as the CEO of the family enterprise. Margot had to force herself to step out of the spotlight, yet she could still feel the attention on her. While her many evenings out and many suitors graced every trashy tabloid, she would never be shunned for something as simple and stupid as a scandal.
Her attention was focused on the street so very far from them. Even his response did not draw her light eyes from her many lights below. Raising the flute to her lips, she took a sip of her champagne. “I always get what I want,” she responded simply as her hand dropped briefly to the large diamond that adorned her left ring finger. “Well, not always. Obviously.”
Turning and resting her back against the ledge, she glanced over the abundant crowd still in her penthouse apartment. “What else could you want? Half the women at this party are currently gawking at you and the other has already attempted to get you to go home with them.”
