I just can’t get it!
I’m currently taking Business Law and when I first started the class I knew I was going to throw my textbook straight off of the fifth floor of the library. Now I have taken two exams and I have followed this routine to better understand my textbook.
1. Go to the lecture first: Unless the Professor demands you read the book before class don’t. At least skim the text to look at key vocab and topics, so you can have a general understanding.
2. Take detailed notes: This is a given, but when you take notes understand you need these notes for reference while reading the textbook.
3. Read the textbook: Read from front to back and mark any sections to go over with when you visit your TA. You can also try reading out loud, taking mind mapping notes, or just reading first then taking notes after. Make sure you understand what you are writing down.
4. Actually visit your TA/Prof: Tell them you are having a hard time with the reading and would like to go over certain parts. Ask questions and add notes to your class notes for a better understanding.
