Day 7: Only 400

My hope is one day the world will get to see a time of peace. No just one area of the world but the whole world. One day when there is no death due to violence, simply old age and illness. Maybe the only way this would occur is if people could only die of natural means.

Can you imagine a world where if someone was in an accident, a life threatening accident, and they simply walked away? But immortality would be too much power for simple human beings so old age or illness can still kill people.

Can you imagine if it was the opposite? If you could never die of old age or illness but only by violence and accidents. Maybe the population soars and the world cannot support the amount of people on the world so the government every few months allows one sanctioned day of violence. Any crime committed on this day will be pardoned. This is the best way to cull the population crowding.

Or maybe people are immortal but with immortality comes a price. Birthrates go down to about 10%. So many have tried to find a way to changes this but unfortunately they have not succeeded. The population gets older and older and the chance of new children gets slimmer and slimmer. So doctors switch focus from infertility to keep people young and beautiful. This leads to a vain culture who want the perfect children to go along with the perfect life. This leads to creating test tube babies. Ones that can be genetically made to the couple’s perfect standard.

A world where all babies are perfect, maybe naturally born babies would now be ostracized. Or maybe the genetic falsified are not immortal so their parents have to watch them grow old and die. Maybe there is a whole new group of humans who were born from the test tube babies whose birthrates are much higher especially when both father and mother are from the genetically modified group.

All these thoughts make me want to write a scifi short story. Which one do you think I should write? All of them are a little cliché but they all seem like great ideas. Now I know I have not hit 500 words on this one but I’m having a hard time writing today so I’ll try to do better tomorrow. Thanks everyone!
