Watched some Taylor music videos on YouTube and thought of you. Do you know why the set of "Lover" was designed look to like a dollhouse? I'm at that spot where I know it means something because it was so deliberately done, but I don't know Taylor well enough to understand the why.
This makes me really happy!! That you thought of me I mean in your Taylor video watching. :)
So there are a couple possibilities.
In her vogue article I know Taylor compared being famous to living in a doll’s house: everybody thinks that they can see everything and that they have some kind of ‘control’ over your life, especially your love life, and that they can “ship” you with whomever they want. Taylor finding true love within that context makes sense.
The fishbowl was a metaphor for fame and her love life- the idea that she has always, up to this point, lived in the fishbowl of fame alone but then he gets in the fishbowl with her and accepts all the scrutiny that comes with being with her. She liked and reblogged a post about that I think!
ALSO I saw a thing that each little room represents one of her previous eras- so a kind of collage of Taylors?
I also think it just fits with the final shot of the girl looking in a.....it’s a snow globe right? So just- the whole thing has a sense of being miniature.
But mostly I can’t settle on one meaning. I love Taylor but in some ways I’m a terrible analyzer of her. Or, I just think she’s best and most interesting in the truths she reveals without consciously intending to. Her Easter egg style of clues and meanings is fun but isn’t that interesting to me, in part because I’m just bad with puzzles of any kind haha.
Also because akejkwkdjjsjw I can’t explain it but I don’t trust Taylor to analyze her own work which sometimes it feels like she is doing with some of her more heavy handed more Easter Egg-y type of symbolism. I trust her to create and do so brilliantly but not to read into it.
