In Super Bowl XLIV on Feb. 7, 2010, it was the Indianapolis Colts vs the New Orleans Saints. Nearing the end of the 2nd quarter, Saints Head Coach Sean Payton decided to go for a touchdown on fourth and goal rather than kick an easy field goal. The attempt failed and halftime began with the Saints down by 4. As the 3rd quarter began, Coach Payton called for a play that had never been done in a Super Bowl game before the fourth quarter: an onside kick. Saints K Thomas Morstead, who afterwards said he was terrified, executed a flawless kick and after a pile of players who had dived for the ball were peeled away one by one, it was ruled that the Saints did indeed recover the ball. The Saints eventually scored and took the lead and a late fourth quarter interception by CB Tracy Porter sealed the deal for the Saints first Super Bowl win, 31-17.
