The Aftermath of Vox's defeat
Summary : My take on what happens with the Vees after Vox's defeat.
-------------------------------------------‐-----
After Vox's failed attempt at a power grab, which led to his inevitable defeat and left both Valentino and Velvette feeling left out of all his plans, the Vees started becoming more distant and divided than they had ever been in their entire afterlife.
...
-flashback to the events following the song Hear My Hope-
All overlords, except Vox, had been part of the group of people in the Pride Ring that decided to protect Hell for their own benefit (mainly to save their reputations, which were at stake since every sinner there was watching it all unfold).
Even Velvette and Valentino helped out because they too couldn't risk letting the entire Pride Ring's population and half of the pentagram's population dying out so easily. It was in their best interest to make sure Hell prevails against all odds, even if it meant temporarily allying themselves with Charlie Morningstar and her little crew.
They had everything to gain from doing this. They'd get to look like heroes, while still preserving theirs and everyone else's lives.
But, it was also mostly because they didn't want to die just for Vox's crazy obsession with Alastor.
...
Vox was laying low on top of his massive laser canon, feeling both angry and miserable at his defeat and his loss against Alastor.
"Ugh!", the TV demon yelled, looking at his two business partners. "Why did you even help the princess and her stupid group of friends? You were supposed to be helping me! Remember?!"
Velvette glared at him, pissed off. She was feeling sick and tired of having to deal with his nonsense.
"Well, maybe, we would have if you didn't fucking attempt to destroy us all! Just think about it for one second!"
"She's right, Vox, and you know it.",Valentino retorted, feeling aggravated towards Vox, which was new for Valentino, whom usually had enough patience to indulge Vox's antics.
Today wasn't not one of their usual days, though. Vox had gone completely insane in that moment, in Vel and Val's eyes. They didn't recognize him anymore.
"So, I'm not gonna let you kill us over that stupid FUCKING deer! I'm so done with your bullshit!", the moth demon screamed, grabbing half of Vox's digital body and smashing half of it into pieces, leaving Vox's body's damaged in his feet and arms, but without too many injuries.
(In this interpretation, Vox's digital body can be damaged, but not smashed or completely broken, since I feel like it is too violent for my taste to just have Vox getting 95% of his body smashed to the ground.
"Ouch, Val! What the hell was that for?", Vox hissed in pain.
"Ha! Nice shot, Val!", Velvette laughed, taunting Vox in the pettiest way possible. "That's what you get for being absolute asshole to us, V. Sorry, not sorry."
The fashionista demon and the moth demon were quick to walk away, grabbing Vox with both their hands and increasing their pace as they started walking back to Vee Tower, so as to not be seen by the masses, who would be quick to judge Velvette and Valentino if either of them were to be seen with Vox.
...
-Fast forward to the present, in Vee Tower, away from prying eyes-
----------
As Valentino and Velvette were back in Vee Tower, with Vox in their hands, the first thing they did was to put Vox on a separate chair and to sit down elsewhere, facing away from him.
They really did not want to deal with him right now.
They were rightfully upset at the little stunt he had pulled earlier today, when he used his gigantic laser canon to wreak havoc in the Pride Ring all for his revenge fantasies regarding the Radio demon.
Vox was already enough of a pain on a daily basis, but now he had gone too far and neither of his partners felt like speaking to him now, except to occasionally scold him for going absolutely insane.
"What the hell was wrong with you, Vox?", Velvette stated lowly. "You almost put mine and Valentino's reputations at risk, as well as the souls in contract with us!"
Vox whined, not caring about her complaints since he's used to her ranting non-stop. "I didn't think... it would end like this. I... I was so close to winning!"
Valentino briefly glanced at Vox, his eyes showing nothing but disdain for whom Vox had become.
" Once again, the only person you care about is yourself, and you don't give a shit about us."
"Val, listen...", the TV demon attemped to explain himself, but was quickly cut off by the moth demon who didn't care for what he had to say.
And Velvette stopped talking, enjoying the well-deserved verbal beating he was receiving from Valentino.
For once it was Val who was stating facts and she was glad that his smooth brain could think of something useful to say for once.
"I don't wanna hear it!", Valentino spat. "In your relentless pursuit of this little 'revenge fantasy' of yours, you not only almost killed us and all of the Pride Ring's population with it, but also ruined our trio in the process. How disappointing of you. I never thought you could stoop so low."
The words Vox wanted to say to his partners didn't want to come out.
He could only hang his head low, staring at the ground, hoping it would swallow him whole somehow.
He currently felt like the worst friend in all of Hell. But, didn't have the guts to say anything, knowing his words would be pointless and only ring hollow to the other vees'.
"Yeah.", Vel agreed with Val matter-of-factly. "And even your reputation can't be saved this time. You made a fool out of yourself and made sinners distrust you for good. Therefore, there's no going back from there. You brought this upon yourself, V."
"Alright.", Vox conceded, disheartened and ashamed. "If you need me, you know where to find me", he said in a low whisper as he teleported himself back to his room, knowing that neither Valentino nor Velvette cares enough to hear about his feeling right now. "I hope I can eventually fix everything. That was a real jerk move, I did back there."
...
-Back to Vox's room-
He immediately laid down on his bed, looking at the ceiling.
He felt bad about his actions back there, on the battlefield. So much so that he didn't even feel that hungry.
The TV demon, who was usually someone with a big - or even moderate - appetite on most occasions, could now barely eat more than a small bowl of chips, fries, and candies.
Fast food meals and sugary foods were usually his go-to meals for when he was feeling particularly down in the dumps. However, even that proved to be ineffective.
Looking at sharks and at shark documentaries on his phone didn't help either, like it usually did on most of his bad days.
He knew he messed up and, so, he wouldn't dare to show his face out there ever again nor to his friends.
...
And so, days passed as Vox rotted in his bed, waiting for his friends (if he could even call them that) to come back to see him. But, it was all in vain. Neither of them came.
And then, days turned into weeks; but, still no response fron either of the two other vees.
He was devastated and felt hopeless.
"Ethan.", he called his assistant. "Please, fetch a few shark plushies for me downstairs. I can't move from here. I just don't feel like it."
"Right away, sir.", Ethan replied politely. "It will be done in less than five minutes."
Vox smiled slightly, more than he had done in the past few weeks since his falling out with Velvette and Valentino.
"I feel like I don't say this enough, but thank you for being as competent as you are. It really puts me at ease."
Ethan blushed slightly, not expecting his boss to compliment him. "Of course, sir. I'm at your service. So, feel free to rely on me again whenever convenient. I'll be awaiting your next call."
...
4 minutes later, his assistant came back with the shark plushies, as promised.
"There you go, sir.", Ethan smiled. "Have a good afternoon."
"Thank you, Ethan.", Vox spoke calmly, barely managing to conceal the ever-present turmoil inside his heart. "You are dismissed until next time."
...
When Ethan left, he started feeling lonely again, much to his dismay.
"Ah.", he said to himself, holding unto the new shark plushies he acquired and laying back on his fancy bed. "I realize that I've actually considered Val and Vel as my best (and only) friends this whole time. So how come I've messed up this badly? What have I done?"
This sinking feeling consuming every inch of him and filling his soul with shame and disappointment, it won't be going away anytime soon.
In this moment of despair, it was all Vox could think about, since he knew he fucked up for good this time.
No one would ever forgive him nor believe in him anymore. And he had no one to blame, but himself.
"I shouldn't have let Alastor get in my head. I've been obsessed with this guy for so long, for 77 whole years, that it has messed me up. I'm so sick of it!", Vox fell to his knees, sobbing.
"Damn it!!!", he wailed, smashing the wall next to him. "I'm such a coward! Why did I have to go so far for someone who has never cared about me or my existence, and give it all up?! All while I still had two friends and partners at my side!"
