I genuinely think the percy jackson series has done irreparable damage to the publishing community bc now u have all these authors being like. I TOO can rewrite a common folktale and make bank
#I say this lovingly because I too adore the original percy Jackson series#I got lost once that series about Apollo hit. could not get through more than like#the first five (?) chapters#and I’ve been told there’s been a significant decrease in quality with the newer books tho#no clue don’t know don’t care#I’m also GENUINELY too old for the series atp I think so no judgement#all this to say I love pjo and this isn’t meant to be a front#but walking through a bookstore and only seeing half baked reboots of myths#or fairy tales#or Shakespeare plays#and scrolling thru like Netflix or smth#going to a cinema#and only seeing reboots and part 18ths#and looking at the charts and seeing remix after remix#idk#what ARE we doing actually#like my mum bless her heart got me a book for my birthday and I just got around to reading the summary#and it’s like#VERY obviously the plot of an old grimm fairytale#one of the lesser known ones but I went through A Phase okay so I was like#ooookayyyy#and now I don’t want to read the fucking novel
