I live for the angst so I'm just imagining parent Rook, with a small child and they don't tell the other companions right? For safety reasons obviously like they need to ensure their baby is safe and they need to be away from everything that's happening, they don't even tell their closest companion or potential partner because you know, they'll tell them when it's all over or maybe they go to tell them right before the big fight - when they think that maybe they won't come out alive and someone needs to know because how else can they ensure that the right people find out?

Except they don't tell them, they can't.

And then they disappear into the fade, get ripped from the mortal plane and are just gone.

So the companions go and tell whoever they need to, maybe Lucanis has to inform Viago or Neve needs to tell Viper or something like that and it's so much worse than they expected.

Lucanis figured Viago would be mad, maybe scared or resigned to this terrible fate that his favourite crow had fallen into but it's so much worse.

Because it's not just Viago or Teia, it's a small child crying out for their parent and thrashing, screaming, falling onto the floor and begging Lucanis to bring their Mum, their Dad back!
