basically bfdi and rain world are very similar in that by the time we see what's on screen, an entire highly technologically advanced civilization (for bfdi the yoyleans and for rain world the ancients+benefactors) has abandoned the world we know and left behind ruins for our characters to explore, harness, and take advantage of . never have they been seen physically on full on screen, and we don't know the answers to all their mysteries. they may not physically be there, but the impact they have on the setting and story fundamentally sets the structure of the narrative. as you can tell this always makes for a cool as fuck story
