I can’t believe I just said that, and I slump deeper into the couch, closing my eyes. “I so should not be sharing this with you. How about you don’t look at me and leave, so we can pretend this never happened?” I feel him adjust beside me, and I wait for the telltale sound of the bells on the door, but they don’t come. Instead, I hear his voice, deep and smooth and far too close to my ear. “What if I want to look at you?” I squeeze my eyes tighter and try to merge with the pillows beneath me. A flush rising on my cheeks.  His voice is gravel. “Look at me, Violence.”  Fuck.
