[Fairy Tales]
Continued from: Part One | Part Two
Catching sight of the smile forming across the human’s features did little to win the man any favors. He doubted the agitated flick of an ear would be enough to indicate as such, but Aki wasn’t a fan of strangers smiling his way. In all honesty, it unsettled him to no ends. Parting with a glance over his shoulder at the initial statement offered toward him, Aki’s shoulders are left to lift in a helpless shrug; a single note being softly hummed.
“There is nothing to admire here, nor should you feel that way towards a gesture that should be a common practice.”
Hearing the light pad of steps following his own as he approached the table and even after he became seated, it left Aki blinking before once more shifting his attention over to the man at the edge of his peripheral. It was beyond Aki as to why the man seemed interested in conversing further with him, but he wasn’t against it either.
Having enough courtesy to refrain from uttering a single syllable until the other man decided he was finished going through his own thoughts, Aki’s head slowly shook to either side. What was it with people rambling on about their significant other to strangers? What difference did it make to him if he knew the apparent ambassador was his husband or not? It really made no difference to Aki.
Yet at the same time, Aki had to wonder if it was normal to do that. Should he be doing that more? He understood what it meant and what it was like to be proud of someone he loved and cared for, but he didn’t see any reason as to why someone he had scarcely known for an hour needed to know that or why they would care. Maybe he should...
“Save your breath. That is not something to apologize for. Besides, the more you ramble the less I have to talk. Even so, perhaps I have seen him in passing? Trying to visualize what he looks like does not seem to be helping much. If I have crossed paths with him, I doubt I have spent any amount of time speaking with him. If anything, my—” He’d pause, “Partner…” Partner? Lover? Significant other? Counterpart? Still at a loss as for what to refer to the Arcanist as when talking to others, Aki figured partner was his best bet.
“My partner has likely stumbled upon him far more than I have if he is part of the Kirin Tor, given how closely he has been working with them over the past while with matters pertaining to the leylines and whatever else it is the magic fanatics do. Personally, I rarely pay attention to conversations exchanged between him and other magic users. They never make sense.”
Turning back to sifting through his pouch, Aki eventually pulls a quill pen along with a blank journal free before adding them to the table.
“Do not discount yourself for what you have done. I am sure there are a number of souls out there thankful for whatever you have contributed to. As well, I have yet to see anything stating you must be involved in an organization to do more. If you wish to do more, then figure out a way to do so.”

Was she truly evil if, for just a split moment, Regina thought of stepping out of the way? Marian would be dead. An unfortunate, tragic accident that Regina was, sadly, unable to prevent because she was too late to save the woman from that giant ice monster. No one would even know the truth of what really happened out here! Except for her; and the former evil queen has been through too much by now to know that the guilt would eat her alive if she had to lie to Robin and Roland. Henry would never forgive her either, and if the most important people in her life would end up resenting her, was it truly worth it? In one careless moment, Regina was hit by the monster’s massive piece of icy arm and she was thrown against a tree, gasping for air and grunting in pain as her body hit the ground. She had to save Marian! With a great effort to stand back on her feet and breathe, her entire body ached and she felt the blood dripping over her face and hands. A blast of magic came from her palms and she took the monster by surprise, her magic had already done enough damage before the ice creature shattered into million tiny pieces that vanished into thin air. Drained and exhausted, Regina’s gaze searched for the other woman, to make sure she was safe. But then her eyes met with Robin’s, and it was the last thing she saw before everything went black.
