Hey so I thought we as userbase should organize spontaneous blackout protest against shapes inc ads here. I thought Feb 26th would be a good date (so ppl has 72 hrs notice if they want to participate), we would log off for 24hrs to show tumblr we are not okay with that (and also for shapes to get less ad revenue for a day in a process lol). Actually I will lose sleep over this if I don't yap about it. The next chapter is like 90% done but I keep flip-flopping on the ending which is very crucial to how the following chapters will go.
Long story short, I second-guessed myself and tried to force a plot point that's not ready to happen yet and now I have to backtrack and do the original ending I had in mind.
Thankfully I don't have to re-write much. Just cut some stuff and move some stuff around. And hopefully it will all make sense, but if I had more confidence in my writing, the chapter would have been done by now.
Hopefully I don't lose too much, bc there are some moments that I personally really like.
Also, I can't deny how much time writing takes up and I do miss working on my art (the only thing that gives me a sense of purpose) and it is getting to me.

How do you think a meeting between Sugishita and Nirei’s family would go? (Nirei gives me ‘grew up with a stressed single mother’ energy personally)
This one's tricky since we haven't seen Nirei's family at all, so I have literally nothing to go on.
I do like the idea of him having a single mom (I can seem him getting a lot his quirks and personality from her. And I like that it lines up with the trend of the Furin boys living outside of the nuclear family structure.) so we'll run with it.
I can see her being overworked (she has to work two or more jobs to pay the bills. Single mom life) and that makes her a little spacey, but I can't imagine her being stressed at home because Nirei keeps the house clean (like do you think he's leaving his dirty socks everywhere and dishes in the sink? Absolutely not.)

Nirei tells his mom that he wants to invite someone over and she's like, yeah sure just tell me when. Maybe tomorrow? (Whenever Sugishita is ready honestly because he doesn't want to force him if he's not ready.)
Nirei casually brings it up to Sugi and Sugi chokes on his drink or runs into a wall or something (because Nirei just invited him over to his house to meet his mom.)
They walk to Nirei's place after school and Mama Nirei calls and says that she's going to be late (she's held up at work because Japanese work culture is brutal.) Sugi's like, I can come back tomorrow and Nirei's like, nah, we'll just go the grocery store and cook dinner ourselves, she'll be here.
Nirei and Sugi get back just as Mama Nirei is getting home. And she's a whirlwind of a woman. She's locks in on Sugi, "Is this your friend? Nice to meet you! Aki didn't tell me you were so tall and handsome. And you have such beautiful hair! He didn’t make you carry the groceries by yourself did he? Please, come inside." If Sugi thought Nirei was chatty, his mom is an Olympic sprinter.
She asks what they planned to make for dinner and takes over the operation, giving instructions (Sugi responds with 'Yes Ma'am!' every time she asks him to do something and she thinks it's really cute. She asks him to move the salt shaker two inches to the left, just to see if he would do it and to mess with him a little. 'Yes Ma'am!')
While they're cooking, Nirei and his mom both bump their heads on an open cabinet at the same time. Yeah, Sugi can see the resemblance.
During their meal, Mama Nirei realizes that Sugi is hopelessly in love with her son and she thinks oh, that's why you wanted me to meet him. After Sugi leaves, She asks Nirei how he feels about him and they have a long mother-son talk about it. She becomes their number one supporter.
She teases Nirei about it every once in a while asking when she gets to walk him down the aisle.
How do you thinking a meeting between Nirei and Sugishita’s grandparents would go?
Funny enough, this was going to be a chapter in my SugiNirei fic but I scrapped it for a few reasons:
I didn't think I could write a whole chapter about it (I probably could now.)
I don't know much about Japanese hosting etiquette.
I wasn't sure about the honorific-usage in this situation. (I think out of necessity, Sugi would be Kyotaro-san for the day. Grandma and Grandpa would be Sugishita-san. Sama feels way too formal, even though I think Nirei calling Grandma Sugi, Sugishita-sama would be really cute, I don't think it's common. As for Grandma and Grandpa, would they call Nirei, Nirei? Nirei-kun? Nirei-chan? Would they just straight up call him Akihiko? I just don't know.)
And as for how I think it would go:
Grandma Sugi tells Sugishita to invite that friend he's always talking about because she wants to meet him. Sugishita is like, what friend? Nirei. She's talking about Nirei. Grandpa Sugi also wants to meet him. Sugishita's like, I don't talk about him that much. He's in denial.
So because Grandma asked, he has to invite Nirei over for dinner and Nirei has to say yes. Failure is not an option. He asks and it's very awkward but he succeeds. (As if Nirei would say no.)
Nirei, of course, is super excited to meet Sugi's grandparents and see his house. Sugishita doesn't say anything because really there's nothing he can say. He already knows that his grandparents are going to love him because he's Nirei and it's like, impossible for anyone to dislike him. (The thing is, his grandparents already like him because Sugi likes him.)
Nirei brings fruit (peaches maybe?) or bread from the bakery as a gift. He chats with both of them and helps with the chores. (And Sugishita is running around behind him, snatching dishes out of his hand because he's the guest! And he's making him look bad in front of Grandma.)
They have dinner, chat, and Grandma Sugi spares Sugi from whipping out the baby pictures this time. But they do mention that Sugi's been different lately. Happier.
Nirei sleeps over (because I said so) and they have a nice breakfast in the morning. Nirei goes home and Grandma Sugi thinks 'What a nice boy.' She starts making extra food for Sugi to share with him.
As far as his grandparents are concerned, Nirei is already part of the family. (And they keep asking when Sugi's going to invite him over again.)
