Today I went to the famous Ōtori Shrine to see and buy a “kumade” (熊手 - bear hand) 🐻 🤚 which is a traditional handmade decoration for the new year. Depending on the symbols in this decoration (which is based on a gardening rake - as in raking money and luck) it is meant for different purposes. According to the rules you start with a small one and each year get a bigger one. (The one I’m holding in the first picture is about $250). It was my first time so I started with a small one as seen in the last picture. Isn’t it cute?
