Chapter 1143 (and a very short 1142) review!
Starting with 1142, I think the only thing I really want to talk about fron it is the nightmares at the end of the chapter. They are probably being used to distract the other giants from the children being kidnapped. I really find the idea of it interesting
And Gunko saying her worst fear is Nika...
---
Now with 1143!
We see Saul trying to save the kids, but he gets cut by thorns surrounding them
- the girl btw is Ylva, the great-great granddaughter of Jarul!
This ends up being St. Summers devil fruit, the thorn-thorn fruit
The way he talks about love is super insane to me, though. "Love is death"? Even from the last chapter, "To love is to hurt one another"? That's going to definitely be important about his character later on
And Qilingam's power? Literally also INSANE. What do you mean he can make you dream about something and control when you wake up??
Also I appreciate how silly the knights are being when not doing their duties. I expected them to be serious, but they are just doing whatever they want. They're having a full 5 star meal rn
Going back to Loki and the others, we see he and Harjudin are fussing, with Loki threatening again Elbaf. But before he did anything else, he ultimately passed out either before or after Luffy punched him.
Gerd is recovering Loki, but apparently it'll take months before he is fully healed.
I'm hoping there isn't some sort of timeskip involved tbh. I am not a big fan of the whole "Elbaf slows down time" theory. I think what's going to happen is that Loki will be fully, or mostly, healed in timed for the final war, to showcase his strength. That is what I would prefer at least
Anyways...
LOKI'S HORNS ARE REAL I KNEW IT I KNEW IT!!!
(He looks gorgeous here wow)
And we get our first flashback of both Harjudin and Loki!
We see that King Harald had to go somewhere, maybe a hunt or even a meeting with the WG based off theories.
But when he left them, Loki was being an ass :( Saying that Harjudin and his mom don't belong there due to their blood.
Now, Harald doesn't seem like the type of person to teach his own kids to not like each other either based on blood. He actually seems to love them equally! Maybe Loki's mom had this sort of ideology and Loki learned from it? Or even from other giants?
I can see why Harjudin would hate him. Him and his mom probably went through hell because of their blood.
Because of Harjudin's anger, he actually tries to kill Loki (which actually shocked me when I saw it). Loki says that Harjudin's anger has blinded him and that he really doesn't understand him or why he had to kill Harald.
In the end, Loki actually thought that Harjudin knew why he had to kill his father and wasn't like the others who thought he murdered him out of spite. Could this be something that Harjudin had known, hasn't excepted yet?

Notes:
- Summers's ideology is so interesting to me. I may be brewing up a theory about how it may connect to another character (love, death, thorns, and especially flowers? Any guesses?) I'll have to add it to my to-do list
- I am so torn between thinking either Harald was good or bad, I can't tell at this point 😭 It changes each time a chapter comes out
- Loki has had his bandages over his eyes ever since he was a kid... we now that it isn't because of his devil fruit ig
