This was a fun project, I got to do characters I don't normally write for. I should have put this on my cannon blog but I signed up for the event under this one.
Happy holidays @ask-the-night-crowl I hope you enjoy it! And merry xmas/happy holidays/festive what up
This was part of the @op-secret-santa-2021 project!
Heels clacked against the sidewalk as Nami walked down the street briskly, she hadn’t seen her best friend in a few weeks, the other woman had been out if town on business and she was more than excited to see her friend. She saw Lola sat outside at one of the cute tables, white iron with delicate details, a large parasol kept the table in the shade.
Nami felt her face split into a grin, the fondness for her friend bloomed in her heart, her steps picking up as she rushed over. Lola stood up just in time for Nami to throw herself into her open arms. They let out laughter, overjoyed to be in one another’s company.
“Nami!” “Lola!” They pulled apart and laughed once more.
“It’s been too long, how was your trip?” Nami asked as she sat down at the table Lola had already secured for them.
“It wasn’t bad, how’s life been treating you?”
“Oh, well, you know Sanji?” Nami started as she opened the menu, glancing over the options before the waiter would come over.
“Yes, yes, this sounds like it’s going to be good” She chuckled, she already decided what she wanted to eat and drink, her attention now focused on the red-haired woman, wanting to know all the details, Nami had so many suiters, she was beautiful after all, and some of the stories she told were the best entertainment.
The waiter came and left, leaving a plate of strawberry shortcake for Lola and a mocha cappuccino for Nami. She sipped her drink and tried to organise her thoughts, knowing Lola was ready for the gossip, poised to hear what stupid things the chef had done.
“So, he asked me to marry him”
“REALLY?” Lola clapped her hands together, stamping her feet on the floor, eyes wide and brimming with happiness.
“I said no”
“Well, I guessed you’d do that but oh, that’s nice how did he do it?” The taller woman asked, thinking of all the ways she wanted to be asked the big question.
“You know, straight out of a cheesy romance novel, trail of rose petals, wine, candles, I felt bad saying no but” She shrugged her shoulders, taking another sip of her coffee with a slight smirk,
“What about you? Has Loki popped the question yet? Or has he actually backed off?” Nami grinned, amused, Lola felt less excited to talk about the issues, the men in her life.
“It’s just nice to be chased, I don’t think I’m interested in him, he’s nice but I want to find myself a Sanji or a Zoro, maybe even a Franky” Lola said, a sigh, thinking about all the men that Nami was friends with.
“You can have them, idiots” Lola laughed when Nami said that the red haired woman tapping her fingers on the table, a grimace as she thought about the idiots in her life, her expression softened when she remembered they were her idiots.
“One day we will both find the right man” Lola sighed, her voice dreamy, she stared at the single rose that sat in the small glass in the middle of the table. “Or the right person” Nami added, not looking up from her cup of coffee.
“Hmm, it would be nice, wouldn’t it?” Lola said, her heart full of wounder, her desire for romance and love.
“Wanna go get drunk later tonight? Might find someone there”
“Oh yes!” Lola couldn’t help but giggle at the wicked grin that graced her friends’ lips.
