doctors: if you lose weight your pcos will go away!

me, 45lbs down: huge boost in androgens, periods came back but they’re heavy + give me dysphoria and anemia, severe pain in both ovaries, still have all the acne they also said would go away

...anyways i’m very sick of doctors acting as if weight loss is a cure-all. it’s not. surprise - sometimes people just have illnesses that are not dependent on weight. and another big shock, those disorders don’t go away when they lose weight because they have nothing to do with each other! it’s easier for doctors to simply tell an overweight person to lose weight and get them off their backs for a while without actually putting in effort to treat them, but at its core, it’s lazy and borderline malpractice.

thinking abt obikin and hair. obi-wan cutting his braid after losing qui-gon and gifting it to anakin bc he is interested in everything to do with jedi, not knowing anakin will keep it for the rest of his life. anakin who is so excited to grow out the part of his hair that will become his padawan braid and rushes to sit down when obi-wan reminds him he's due for a haircut. anakin who calls obi-wan handsome regardless of his hairstyle and quickly averts his eyes. obi-wan who doesn't mind when anakin asks him to re-do his braid, both of them soothed by the motions and the intimacy of the act. anakin laying his head in obi-wan's lap after one of his horrible nightmares (or shaking after a really bad day on the battlefield) and obi-wan running his fingers through anakin's curls, murmuring about how long his hair is getting now or giving him little braids. they don't ever talk about it outside of those moments
