The Open Boat by Stephen Crane

What an underwhelming book. Stephen Crane’s short story, The Open Boat, is about a group of four men inside a row boat who are searching for land after a ship wreak. They paddle and try to control the boat to not sink or drown into the cold, at times dark, sea. That is most of the story. Ernest Hemingway had this book on his list of must read books for arising writers so I read it. I don’t see what the deal is. There isn’t any grand story twist or emotional writing or in depth metaphor. I found nothing of value in this short tale.

Albury Brothers…. pures merveilles!

La famille Albury construit des bateaux à Man O'War Cay, Abaco aux Bahamas depuis de nombreuses générations. Ils produisaient des smacks, des sloops, des goélettes et depuis 1952 des runabouts hors-bord et des skiffs. 

 Les bateaux sont construits en bois jusqu'en 1985 et le premier bateau en fibre de verre est le 18,5 footer, qui est toujours construit à Abaco. En 1990, le modèle de 20 pieds est cree puis le 23, le 27 et le 33 en 2014. 

 En raison de la demande, en 2003, la famille Albury s'est associée pour produire ses bateaux aux États-Unis à Riviera Beach en Floride. 

 En plus d’être beaux, d’avoir des lignes très pures, ces bateaux sont réputés pour leur solidité, pour leur tenue à la mer et quand on en à un on le garde. De fait ils sont très rares en occasion.

Albury Brothers

The Albury family has been building boats at Man O'War Cay, Abaco in the Bahamas for many generations. They produced smacks, sloops, schooners and since 1952 outboard runabouts and skiffs. 

The boats are built of wood until 1985 and the first fiberglass boat is the 18.5 footer, which is still built in Abaco. In 1990, the model of 20 feet is created then the 23, the 27 and the 33 in 2014. 

Due to demand, in 2003, the Albury family partnered to produce their boats in the United States in Riviera Beach, Florida. 

In addition to being beautiful, to have very pure lines, these boats are famous for their solidity, for handling so well many sea conditions and when somebody has got one he keeps it for a very long time. In fact used boats are very rare on the market.
