Today the library.  Called it the Factory when I told a friend about it on gchat.  Put in a few hours at the Factory this afternoon.  Someone aggressively shh-ed a pair of teenagers as I advanced from the graphic design section to the painters’ biographies.  I selected seven design books.  Stroked the spine of a Dover Edition.

Searched for Agnes on the internet.  She only had two years to leave a paper trail, and didn’t leave much.  I think I found her family, living on E. 120th St in 1900.  Mother Mary, Father Patrick, Brother George, Sister Mary, Baby Agnes.   George cleans carpets.  Her death certificate is disappointingly digitalized.  It does not add any new information besides her certificate number.  I don’t know what I can do with this information.

All Ya Got to Do Is Sing | Choir Class |

Melody waited at her stool in front of the piano, music stand in front of her, leaning on the upright piano behind her. Her first class started in ten minutes, and yet no one was here yet. Wouldn't anyone come to class the first day back? New Year's Resolution and all that jazz?

Probably not, she thought to herself. Having very little to do, she started singing under her breath.

First Day Back | Open |

Charlotte rolled over and slammed the snooze button on her alarm. Their last history teacher had quit right before break, so she didn't have a history class to go to, so she could sleep a little bit longer. She opened one eye and peered out at the clock. "9:50? Whoops," she said quietly aloud, unsure if Jessie was in her own bed asleep or not. She rolled over to check, and lo and behold, Jessie was sound asleep. "Figures," she muttered under her breath, "but I don't blame her. She's had a hard week." She got up as quietly as she could, gathered her things, and walked to the girls' shower. "Guess I'm skipping chemistry today," she said to herself as she walked down the hall. "But I need to be ready in time for choir," she admonished, nodding her head definitively. "Less than a hour. Lessgo."

Stepping into the shower, she quickly washed her body and then turned the attention to her hair. It took a lot of work to get her blonde ringlets to look so perfect every day, and she really didn't have enough time today to do so. But she went to work on them anyway, using two different shampoos, conditioner, and a leave-in conditioner specifically for curly hair. Shutting off the water, she put her hair up in her towel and got dressed for the day. Checking her watch, she swore under her breath. 10:20. Can't be late, can't be late, can't be late, she repeated over and over in her head. Turning on the blow-dryer, she only had time for a once-over on her hair, leaving most of it still damp. 

Sprinting back to her room, she eased the door open, seeing Jessie still asleep in her bed. Adding earrings and a necklace to her day's ensemble, she glanced at herself in her vanity mirror. "Gorgeous," she approved quietly, slipping on heels and a leather jacket. Out the door she ran, letting the lock click behind her, praying she could make it to choir in 10 minutes.
