The RA9's Island of Misfits Discord is having a grand opening event to celebrate, and you're all invited! So long as you are over the age of seventeen, you are welcome to take part in this event. Everyone will be working on the same prompt, and that prompt is...
It's Christmas Eve!
You can write or draw or create anything that fits this prompt, however loosely you interpret it. Posting will take place on the 25th of December. This is a low-pressure event. There is no minimum word requirement for writing. No one will be mad if you have to drop out, or if you post a little later than the 25th.
Please tag us @island-of-misfit-deviants when you post, or also include the tags #the island winter wonderland !
Happy creating!!
Check out the ra9's Island of Misfit Deviants community on Discord - hang out with 43 other members and enjoy free voice and text chat.
The Island (tm) is now officially open!
Welcome to ra9's Island of Misfit Deviants.
This is a place for those who are neurodivergent, or just need a place to simply be. This server houses two members who are 17+ (there IS an 18+ section, and a soon-to-be implemented 25+ section) and the server will become entirely 18+ after April 28, 2025). If you are uncomfortable interacting with any of the aforementioned individuals, there are no hard feelings if you leave.
You are always welcome back at any time.
We are DBH-centric, but watch movies, stream video games, and talk about things that aren't DBH-related. Sometimes the hyperfixation leaves, sometimes it comes back; it's about the community.
All ships are welcome. We have HankCon and Anderfam members and mods coexisting, and we look to live and let live. It's okay to like something, but it's also okay to NOT like something.
▪️ Until Wednesday evening my askbox is open for drabble requests ▪️

welcome, welcome, welcome, hogwarts! welcome back to another year of learning, and, for some of you, welcome back for the very last time or the very first time. the first day of term is always a long one - nine hours on a train can really take it out of you, but worry not because Headmistress McGonagall knows exactly what you need.
it’s the Back to School Bonfire!
the welcome feast is over, the sorting song has been sung, and the moon and stars are bright in the night sky...there’s no need to worry about your trunks, you’ll find them waiting for you in your rooms like always. all you need to do is join your classmates down on the shores of the black lake, where you’ll find refreshments, snacks, several bonfires already roaring, and a fireworks display to end the evening. come and enjoy your first night back! there’s music playing and some students have begun a game of truth or dare, but keep your tempers under control. no fighting or you’ll ruin the fun for everyone, and it would be a shame for the Headmistress to cancel one of her (new) favorite traditions. this is a students-only event, but the professors are never far and you’ll have to see all of them in the morning, so remember that when you consider spiking the punch. have fun, enjoy your evening and don’t stay up too late, classes start tomorrow morning and breakfast comes early. see you at the lake!
DETAILS
IC
students from each year are allowed and encouraged to attend, there is no age limit but do keep in mind spiking the punch could make a few first years very sick.
students are allowed to be at the lake, the boathouse, near the edges of the forest, and anywhere else on the grounds really. the professors don’t want students wandering off too far or into their dorms until the fireworks show has begun, at the very earliest. however some students may end up sneaking off anyhow.
all manner of treats and refreshments will be made available and kept hot or cold depending on need. always warm mugs of hot chocolate and cider, chilled butterbeer, pumpkin pasties and cauldron cakes will be everywhere. small bags will be provided to fill from the candy bar as well, mcgonagall is really spoiling you all this year!
the bonfires will be magically maintained to be safe, roasting marshmallows is encouraged at the smaller fires only. do not attempt to throw anything into the fires please.
blankets will be provided for the fireworks show.
OOC
this event will last from thursday mar 4th at 3pm est to monday march 9th at noon. no new starters should be posted after monday but threads from the bonfire are allowed to continue!

have fun! and if you are unsure about anything we are happy to help!
grab your outfits, your hats, and your headpieces - it’s time for you to shine. you will be caught and mesmerised by the sparkle, the lights, the glamour, and the music of an lost era. the roaring twenties have arrived to mount wells. dare to enter a world of dreams. tonight anything can happen.
Once a year, when summer begins, the GSSA throws a charity gala, and the whole town is invited. This is an occasion to celebrate, since the majority of the GSSA’s events are members only. However, this night is open to everyone - or at least everyone that can afford the 40 dollar ticket. The goal of the party? To raise funds for a specific charity organisation that is chosen by the current president of the GSSA. 5% of the profit, nonetheless, go to the Association in order to help supporting its existence.
The theme of the event changes every time. This year, guests and their plus ones are required to wear 1920′s appropriate outfits, and the night promises to be a mixture of jazz, sparkle, and adventure.
The novelty of these annual celebrations is also the election of Miss Mount Wells. Every girl and woman in town who’s older than 18 is able to participate in the contest. They will walk down the stage, and demonstrate one of their talents in front of a jury; and the winner will be the star of the Founders’ Day parade, to be held in August.
Rhiannon Hébert, current president of the GSSA, is in charge of choosing the members of said jury that she will preside herself. The others will be Elena Lima (winner of the contest for the last three years), Mayor Bailey, and Mrs. Bailey (his wife).
For the people who aren’t really interested in the beauty & talents pageant, there’s music, dancing, food; and all the entertainment that can bring a summer night out of town. Remember please, alcohol won’t be sold to minors. The gala will end by 9 pm.
The opening event will start now, and will last until Saturday June 23rd. Once the event ends, threads can continue, but no new starters happening during the gala can be posted. Please let me know by ask or IM if your character wants to participate in the Miss Mount Wells contest, or if your character wants to volunteer to work at the party as a staff, musician, host, etc. I will be making a small announcement with both the participants and the staff tomorrow night; so send me your message as soon as possible! With that being said, I leave you with The Roaring Twenties! RESURGENCE IS OFFICIALLY OPEN!
