Supporting Mental Illness
Mental illness isn’t always supported and accepted. Not everyone will act like they are supportive, but will be quick to make those people who struggle feel bad. We must be supportive of everyone.
Mental illness is often invisible to the untrained eye, and unless you’re aware or you understand how mental illness looks, you may even start to think those people are being stubborn.
Mental illness includes a broad range of behaviours and symptoms that are not always obvious to the untrained eye, but they’re there. It is important we are aware of the signs that might suggest someone is experiencing mental health problems.
One indicator may be that the person is struggling in ways that are uncharacteristic for them. Uncharacteristic behaviour changes may reflect personal difficulties around mental health difficulties.
When it comes to mental illness or disability, it is wrong for others to act like they are supportive, then when it comes to it, the other person is treated like they’re a burden, or they’re annoying and they’re then made to feel bad. Society needs to drop the stigma attached to both.
A mental illness isn’t something that can be concealed, it’s also not something others will be aware they have, but it will be obvious to others. At the rise of the pandemic, supporting mental health has never been so important than it is now.
We must all act and be a support to one another in these difficult times. Not to means more discord and harmony in a time when we need to be working together.

To a degree I can appreciate the message behind this. I value having a network of individuals in which I can share experiences & challenges that I otherwise would internalize. Without expressing our burdens it can be more difficult to find our blessings . . . . . . . #myopinion #myexperience #lifehacks #expressyourself #opentheconversation #selfduty #selfworth #friendship #compassion #empathy #blessings #burdens #life #trials #makeitcount #support

[ G O O D ‘ F O R T U N E ] I Love Australia & know how fortunate I am to be Australian, especially an educated, middle class, white male … whilst at times I take it for granted, this privilege is not lost on me. I’m aware that the hand dealt to me was sheer ‘luck of the draw’ & required next-to-no effort on my part. For me, more important than pride in country, is pride in self: what I do, who I am, how I live … this takes considerable effort & seems innately more worthwhile. Let’s be careful not to hide behind the nationalistic fervour of a pre-empted, pre-dated Australia Day as our collective cloak of elvenkind, and take some time for introspection. We are the bugs in our nations gut, let’s choose to be the good ones. I support a celebration date that best represents ALL Australians, sensitive to and mindful of our original inhabitants … a day where we can unite to celebrate the good stuff & put our heads together collaboratively to workon the not so … . That said #getabigblackdogupya #changethedate #australiaday #opentheconversation #integrity #beyourbestyou #allaustraliansmatter (at Australia)
