Really love your she-ra art, especially the one with Adam since i picture's likely how they'll depict him in the reboot. although i have to ask. Do you think since He-man being gay has been such a huge joke about the series over the years that making it cannon might accidentally impose some negative stereotypes or implications? Just thought it was an interesting subject.
thank you! i don’t think it would be negative, personally, because the creator/s of he-man and she-ra didn’t MEAN for adam’s depiction to be offensive or negative in any way (AS FAR AS I KNOW) so i don’t think him being canonically gay would be perpetuating anything unless the reboot writers really dug their feet into a stereotypical gbf persona or made jokes antagonizing the fact that he was gay.
the writers of spop have been pretty good with keeping lgbt rep pretty well-handled so far (probably because (i think) a lot of the people working on the show are lgbt and lgbt writers know how to write lgbt characters) so honestly i’m not worried about it. i think if they do bring him on the show (which is doubtful bc dreamworks doesn’t really have rights to he-man??? maybe?) they would handle his character pretty well, whether they depict him as gay or not.
it is a pretty interesting subject, and i’m just one person who honestly doesn’t know that much about the history of the series so i might not be the best source on this info lol, but in my professional lesbian opinion i think writing him as a non-stereotyped gay character would be more of a fuck you to homophobes who made jokes about og he-man than something that feeds into their ideas. then again who really knows with the track record that netflix cartoons have??
anyways i’m just kinda jabbering. if anyone has something actually insightful to say about this feel free to add on!
