We are on break... BUT we are still seeing and making art!
So glad that Alex and Anna Mikaela were able to see me perform with @socialhealthperformanceclub at the Queens Museum this Sunday. It was a great time! More great articles soon. Xx Love you guys!
The never ending frustration of most exercise being ruled out due to RSI and rotator cuff problems. I'm limited to walking or running until i've seen the physio. And running is torture that I only wish upon my most hated of enemies.
*sigh*
Healthy breakfast ideas needed.
Since I've been given the all clear to start exercising again, as of Monday Operation Catsuit goes into effect.
With that in mind, I'm looking for some good, healthy breakfast ideas. Things that are high energy and good for me to have in the mornings that are going to keep me relatively full for more than an hour or two.
Who would have 'thunk' it?--as of today the 1st video in the Operation Catsuit project has 64,156 views and over 600 comments. If you haven't seen this video, it's re-posted above. I consider the YouTube comments to be part of the piece so take a look at them too. View here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gAME56uXWo Some of the comments are quite eye-opening (even the negative ones).
I'm also very pleased to say that my kickstarter campaigned was 108% funded so the "Hollywood" version of this piece will definitely begin filming in late spring. The director and camera people are all excited and on board for the ride. This will be my first time working with a professional crew. Thank you to all who supported, reblogged, or commented on this project. You are all part of this movement! A celebration of bodies... XO
Operation Catsuit May Be The Best Perfromance Art Of All Time
If you’ve been reading my posts lately, more specifically my stuff about movies, you’ll know that I recently watched Marina Abramović: The Artist Is Present, a documentary about the “Grandmother of Performance Art” Marina Abramović (aka the lady who was forehead to forehead with Jay-Z in the “Picasso Baby” video). The movie was cool because it introduced me to the world of performance art. I’m still not sure what classifies what as performance art, but if Operation Catsuit is performance art, it’s the best art I’ve ever seen. Operation Catsuit is a performance series in which installation artist/handbag designer Ayana Evans wears a neon zebra print body stocking to various art events across New York City. At each event friends of the artist secretly video tape the reaction of patrons in the galleries and around the surrounding neighborhoods. Those with the strongest responses are interviewed after the artist has left the area. A handful of those who have absolutely no response at all are interviewed as well. As the saying goes, “I don’t know art, but I know what I like” and Ayana Evans in a neon zebra print body stocking is a beautiful thing. But what about the woman I saw last week at the bus stop who was wearing similarly the same thing (Her’s were shorts)? Was she also doing a “performance series”? At the end of the day I really don’t care, but I’ll keep looking. The post Operation Catsuit May Be The Best Perfromance Art Of All Time appeared first on nappyafro.com. http://dlvr.it/3wVzkf
