Pahang recovers fully from floods
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 16, 2015:
There are no more flood victims in Pahang following the closure of the last evacuation centre in Temerloh this afternoon.
The Pahang Contingent Police Headquarters Flood Operations Room informed that the flood situation had improved and the last evacuation centre in Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Kapor, which housed 337 victims in Temerloh, was closed at 4.30 this afternoon.
More than 50,000 people were affected by floods in nine districts in Pahang since Dec 22.
In Perak, the number of flood victims continued to drop this afternoon to 1,031 compared with 1,173 at noon while in Kelantan, the number remained at 545 as at noon today.
A spokesman from the Perak National Security Council (MKN) said the number of flood victims in Perak Tengah was 831, Hilir Perak (166) and Hulu Perak (34).
In Kelantan, a spokesman for the Kelantan Welfare Services Department said 515 victims were still staying at 12 evacuation centres in Kuala Krai while 30 more were in Machang at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Temangan evacuation centre
With this, the total number of flood victims still staying at flood evacuation centres in Perak and Kelantan was 1,576 compared with 2,055 at noon.
