so today is the 5/20 presidential inauguration

big day. Our politics are heavily partisan, too, and it’s the same old one-party-done-fucked-up endless power-stupidity rotation hell. but im going to bitch about something!!!

That post about taiwan getting the first female president who don’t need no husband, regarding which her words were unfortunately transliterated as sexual innuendo in English? A Tsai supporter was happy to have voted for her and had commented with a most invigorating outlook on our political landscape and social progress at the end of that post. President Tsai supporting independence for taiwan was listed among the voting reasons (one other being that she has cats she posts cute pictures of. like what the actual fuck).

all in all a subverting, feminist, progressive tumblr post to reblog, if it werent talking about my country lmao. It’s really scary tho!! i was speechless. It was the first time i see someone describe a taiwanese politician in this quintessentially “tumblr” way. (i didnt realize people on the net even know where we are lol)

I supposed that’s an optimistic way to look at things?? but from what i gather the national sentiment hasn’t really been caring about Tsai as a woman in power, as much as that she’s simply one of the big DPP figures who’s really good at being evasive and thus keeping her career and public records clean. And that she’s filthy rich. Her family hit the pot doing business with the Americans stationed near where they lived in the 50s. Her father had multiple wives, which was not a normal thing even under the times. Of course such background doesn’t mean she a bad person by default. And she’s definitely brilliant in managing to keep her status and not have whole families dissolving into a ugly inheritance war like so many others have.and avoiding making stupid politician statements. But that’s just it, she’s so good at doing politics without her tail catching fire but that entails zilch about any public-serving social initiatives that are what presidents are paid to do. Seriously, i was surprised people just overlook everything and jump into that “vote the gay-supporting woman”!! conclusion

also today the president has to address the 92 accord, which brings me to the reason why that post rubs me the wrong way so much in the first place. No doubt she made a vague enough statement today to keep our ass safe from one missile from across the strait!! no shit!! but to think the dpp will just straight up declare independence from china is fucking stupid. One official statement saying “taiwan is not a part of china” and you might just well be shouting “invade me!! reclaim me mother china!!” We cannot defend ourselves okay? our military is basically just a warehouse of smelly helmets worn by the americans. and even if we were armed to the teeth it wouldnt mean safety in the current geopolitical climate and under the reality of scale. We were like kinda safe from McArthur’s island jump because the Japanese took real good advantage of their colony’s strategical position; and right after the KMT got owned by the peoples republic the americans camped here to make sure their pacific front against the communists stay intact. However now there’s really not much to do other than keep getting bullied in exchange for the chance to participate in international academics and sports and not giving them the trigger to a missile in our face.

like id love to not worry about the sovereignty of our humble little potato too but come on shit is just not real. How about worry over our water pollution and internet speed first?? Accept the fact that both KMT and DPP are trash and that DPP is just more bending and sly about it while KMT is a bunch of fucking morons who got played by the communists before 1949 and only continued to be played by DPP afterwards. Now president Tsai is gonna try playing china; our imminent problems are not getting solved because hey that’s how the plutocrats do.

Lel the version I'm used to seeing on headlines growing up was guys hacking girlfriends on the neck during break up arguments or people injuring their partners cos they'd been refused sex..... Haven't seen the hacking/neck-stabbing news in a long while but there're always sensational reports of sickening crimes involving relationships or sex on our mainstream media (the one thing they're guaranteed to cover with great details and enthusiasm, pffft) .....:/

If He Doesn't Call, He Doesn't Care

So many times guys tell girls that they are busy and didn't remember or think to call. They say they don't understand why it is so important to us. The fact of the matter is if you don't realize that you haven't talked to someone in days and don't think to see how they are doing, then you just don't care. It's really hard to accept that guys can lie to our faces and tell us that we are "the best," "awesome", or that "no one has cared for me this much in a long time." However you have to realize that if we were that special, then they would put in the effort to see how WE are doing.

Homecoming.

So I'm officially going, but only because I was asked. Which came as a total surprise to me. AND it was actually pretty cute and creative.

So in my friend group, we had a Tortilla War going on. Where we would put Tortilla on each others cars and car paint the windows. Well he put 'will you go to homecoming with me' on separate tortillas and put them on my chemistry desk. Bah<3

SOOO I ordered a dress. Its red and one shouldered. I'm thinking white shoes/whatever other accessories I decide to do, which most likely will be nothing. But since I'm doing white accent, I'm thinking about telling him to do a white tie.

I think that would look really crisp and snazzy. Opinions?
