In the latest sneak peek of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's tell-all interview, the Duchess of Sussex explained to Oprah Winfrey why the couple is speaking out.
She knew what she was getting into (theoretically). To turn around 2 years later and say "wow I had no idea that I would be so stifled" and to play the victim is just absurd. She knew that as a member of the royal family she couldn't just schedule a tell-all with the media whenever she wanted. In fact, she TRIED (by her and Oprah's own admission) to schedule the Oprah interview BEFORE THE WEDDING EVEN TOOK PLACE and was told she couldn't. Which means *before she even married him* she knew what was and wasn't possible.
She knew that she didn't get to voice her political opinion - ESPECIALLY about US politics (as that would have made her a member of a foreign monarchy weighing in on international politics). She knew that she would have to take the good with the bad, "never complain, ever explain" and all that in exchange for living in a literal palace, then a large country estate, having a wedding that cost tens of millions of dollars, a wardrobe that in 1 year totaled nearly $1million, etc.
