@optimisticyellowcrayon volunteered to welcome Jo to bunkerverse!
Jo had seen a lot of weird things since the world had ended, but this was definitely up there. The man before her was a little overweight, which was unusual for the apocalypse, and clean, which was even weirder. She shifted the shotgun in her arm, taking a step closer.
The man’s eyes went wider as she approached, and he put his hands out. “No,” he told her, just a hint of panic in his voice. “No. No no no no,” he said, speaking so fast his words ran together. He took a few steps back, nearly stumbling over his own feet as he turned and awkwardly ran away.
Perplexed, Jo cocked her head, watching him stumble away for a moment before she followed him, wondering where the hell the nerd had come from... and where he was going. Heading around a grouping of boulders, Jo rounded the corner just in time to see the rather awkward man disappearing into what appeared to be a bright crack-shaped light hovering in mid-air.
“What the ever-living fuck?” Jo breathed, moving closer to the light. She’d heard rumors of the rips that had appeared, but this was the first time she’d ever seen one, and the man had just ran away through her.
Licking her lips, Jo looked around and gathered her thoughts before stepping into the light. The sensation was unlike anything she’d ever experienced, but just seconds later she was walking out of the light, the words of the nerd shambling off echoing back to her. “Oh god, oh no, oh god,” he rambled as he hurried away.
Shaking her head, Jo scanned her surroundings, inhaling sharply at just how different everything was. Buildings, people, and the sounds of music and laughter from a nearby restaurant. She shifted a little, turning to see the sunset, the first sunset she’d seen in years not obscured by clouds and ash. Everything here was just so bright.
“Where the hell am I?”
