Another g/t dad idea.
Based on Mediterranean mythology, a fisherman goes in search of a rumoured island that held a grand treasure. The far off island only known by stories of wannabe treasure hunters, their ships destroyed and crew lost by a powerful monster that guarded where the island is rumoured to be. The fisherman is a complete full-hardy idiot who sailed off in a tiny dingy with not by a satchel, fishing rod, and knife. The villagers watching on and collectively thought, “…he gonna die.”
So, after a few days of getting lost, baking in the sun, and almost drowning in a storm, our intrepid hero(?) washes up on the rumoured island. The harsh cliff landmarks matching some of the more lucky survivors’ accounts, especially that of the opulent temple that bore the symbols for the old sea God.
Thanking the Gods for his luck, the exhausted hero stumbles up the sheltered beach he washed upon, the fisherman headed along the cliff path towards the temple. Figuring an offering to the gods first would help in his endeavour to either steal the treasure or kill the beast.
What he didn’t expect to find was some kid already on the island, staring at the fisherman like he’s never seen a sunburnt, half drowned scraggly man before… which fair.
Before the fisherman could rightly ask questions, like where he was, and if he got the wrong island, a shadow fell over the two.
The fisherman turning to see the giant scaled monster glaring down at him. The cliff barely making past the humanoid chest the beast had as a fang mouth was fixed into a sharp frown. A deep growl echoing around, easily heard across the sea to any unlucky nearby islands.
Before the fisherman could throw a prayer to a god, or even wonder why he found the face glaring down at him so handsome, the small child ran past him. Calling out ‘Papa’ before the giant beast brought a hand over to pick them up.
So basically fisherman learns ancient sea god has island, protecting his tiny child.
