I’ve been a v casual fan of Welcome to Night Vale for about a year-and-a-half now. My friend, @daughterofsci-fi, had me listen to the pilot with her. Since then I’ve been S L O W L Y catching up. But tonight I finally got interested in what the “Voice of Night Vale” looked like. So I Googled a picture.

Starting Into the Drowning Deep and good god i didn’t think I was this afraid of the ocean until now.

I see pictures of people at the beach or camping by the mountains but I have never seen either irl. Are mountains as big as they look? Are they bigger? Is the beach really all sand? How far does the water go out before it's a steep drop into the unknown? I went to lake Superior once and I could see Canada but it was very tiny. Is the ocean the same way? Can you really walk forever on the sand. Are there agates in the ground like there are at lakes?
