Help help my English speaking followers, can somebody explain me why the f* are pepper and peppers called for all practical means the same name, allowing for a nice dose of fun and uncertainty in every English conversation? Did your all-knowing ancestors run out of words? Was it the result of a popular vote "dUH it's SpiCY hOt We'LL CaLl iT PepPeR"? Not that in Italian or French they'd be very far apart either...
