Jonathan as child definitely had nights were he just woke up alone in darkness without any comfort, so now, he makes sure that, if his partner feels scares they can have a light to chase shadows away.
I can also see him buying like this string lights to put around his partner room, or even around a house. Just so there is always a way to chase darkness away. Beside he thinks they look neat on his book shelves and he is right!
Jonathan reluctantly commisions Edward to create a little scarecrow lamp for his partner is something I truly need and is now canon to my au.
