Homemade orange garland for Yule 🍊
assorted dried citrus (some burnt but still beautiful)
TWO dried citrus garlands, one for my mom and one for my step-mom. I used navel oranges and tangerines, and intentionally let some go longer in the oven for color contrast :) thanks to @hellenhighwater for the inspiration and the instructions!!
I finally got around to making my orange garland today! And I think it looks so sweet! 🍊🌞✌🏻
ORANGE GARLAND
Take 4 or 5 oranges and slice them into circles; thinner slices make it easier to dry
Place slices in rows on a baking sheet
Place sheets into 200° F oven
Check and flip slices every hour until dry
Let cool, then use a needle, chopstick, or something similar to push two holes through the flesh of the orange (NOT THE RIND! It will fall apart)
String the oranges onto a piece of string or jute
You now have a complete Yule orange decoration! String it on a tree, hang in front of a window, or use as an altar decoration. You can also save it for next year, compost, or give to the birds when the season is over!

orange garland for yule! inspired by other posts on here, i used string but i’ve seen other people use fishing wire, i dried them in the oven for two hours on 250 but they still had wet spots so i think people who did 225 for three hours is a better idea. i put them in for 15 minute increments afterwards and kept flipping them until they dried. after yule i’m going to put them in a simmer pot, i have one going right now as well inspired by @mothmaam i didn’t have cranberries but i used dried oranges for prosperity, rosemary for protection and love, bay leaves for protection and manifestation, cloves for protection and clarity, cinnamon sticks for protection, and star anise for luck. happy yule :)
