ORDER OF BATH

Founded by King George I in 1725

Grand Master: The Prince of Wales

The name of the order comes from the ritual of the bath one had to perform when knighted.

Ribbon

Its members are divided into 2 divisions: military and civil.

Each division has their own regalia

Motto:

- Tria juncta in uno ('Three joined in one') for the Civil Division

- Ich dien for the Military Division

Insignia: three crowns surrounded by a red ring with the motto of the Order.

Grades:

- Knight/Dame Grand Cross (GCB)

Robes & collar (the king wears the military version)

Sash, badge and breast star

If the recipient has a coat of arms, it can bear the ribbon + collar

When worn with other orders, the badge is worn at the neck:

As well as less formal situations:

- Knight/Dame Commander (KCB/DCB)

- Companion (CB)

The installation service is held every 4 years at the Henry VII Lady Chapel (the chapel of the order) in Westminster Abbey.
