idk if one should be excited about an organic section or not
The final Diels-Alder product (9,10-dihydroanthracene-9,10-α,β-succinic acid anhydride) following recrystallization from ethyl acetate.
Well it only exploded a little bit
Me explaining to the organic lab director that Grignard reagents don't like water
The "changes in molecular structure" when exposed to negative thoughts probably explain a lot of my results in chemistry, including the black gunk at the bottom of this flask
I guess I'm going to have to stop telling my experiments to go fuck off and die, because its hurting their feelings, causing them to proceed poorly and never give the planned results.
Tfw your distillation doesn't work and you waste an hour on inconclusive results
Task: Predict HNMR Spectra // Problem: Being hungover
Yup. I went to my brother in law's Super Bowl party where I consumed all of 3 drinks and got completely shitfaced. Not sure how that happened because 3 drinks is nowhere near what it takes for me to get like that. I was...errr embarrassing.
Then I had an 8 am lab where we were doing tutorials on HNMR theory, interpreting and predicting spectra, and figure out percent composition for a practice problem set due at the end of lab. You can imagine what I looked like.
I actually told my TA I was hungerover because I asked him a question and he looked at my drawing and was like "Uhh, why are there 5 bonds on carbon?" He totally has his judgy pants on (rightfully so).
Because I'm hungover, that's why.
By the end of lab, I was mostly recovered and left promising my TA I would be more coherent and less of an ass next lab. Quasi-redemption was achieved when I actually understood shit and explained it to him.
Walking out of lab when you're the first to finish like,
