The photo above was taken by me last December 2018. The blue and silver ring is what I’d imagine Denna’s ring looks like. The pretty origami ball made from an actual map and the ring weren’t made by me, I bought them on the Etsy online store from two different artists. The ring is quite affordable, only about $20 I think. 🙂 The origami map made me think of Denna as she often travels.

I’m thinking of taking up origami paper folding again, but it might be a while before I can fold something as complex as the above lovely origami ball.

Denna is a great character from Patrick Rothfuss’ amazing Kingkiller Chronicles books.

I used to be obsessed with folding unit origami balls (aka kusudamas, although technically that's not the same thing). Nearly all of these were put together from 30 folded units each, without glue. None of these are my designs; the origamists who designed these include Tomoko Fuse, Ekaterina Lukasheva, Valentina Minayeva, Uniya Filonova, Pope Eugene, etc... I don't know if I'll make any more of these any time soon, but it's a great, cheap hobby that I highly recommend.

I haven't made any for the last few months, but for about a year I was constantly making unit origami models (aka kusudamas, but technically they're not the same thing). This model I folded a long time ago is a design by Meenakshi Mukerji, which does not require any material besides paper.
