I LOVE watching all the progress shots of your Origami costume! I'm totally impressed beyond words, and I hope I get to see it in person here in a few weeks. Good luck in the home stretch!

Thank you so much! This has certainly been a roller coaster ride, I’ve never done as complicated a costume as this! It’s been a lot of work, but I know in the end it’ll be so rewarding! Ahhh, a dream costume come true, through blood, sweat, and tears (more blood than tears, actually).

I’m very excited for Katsucon! I’ll be wearing Origami much of the weekend (both Friday and Saturday) so I do hope you’ll be able to catch me (if I’m not lurking in the shadows)!

I can only imagine your pain hand sewing. I make my cosplays by hand but vinyl. I wish you the best of look. It looks crazy great by the way. Love Tiger & Bunny. :D

Ah, thank you so much! Yeah, with a costume design like this it’s impossible to avoid handsewing some parts of it! Sewing through multiple layers of vinyl is painful (stab myself quite a bit) and a thimble is a must. Do you hand sew all your costume? That must take time and patience! Kudos!

Some progress on the armored shin guards for Origami Cyclone. I admit, these look a little odd out of context. First I patterned them out with newsprint and cardstock, then cut the pieces out of thin cardboard aka. a Priority Mail box. Taped them together to keep the pieces in place as I sewed (more like sutured) the boards together. Next in the process is reinforcing the shape a bit, then covering in fabric slash attach to the rest of the shin guards. I realized afterwards the shape is a bit off, but oh well.
