The thing is, if you ignore their history together and just put them in the same room, the Barnabas Collins who kidnapped Maggie Evans and the 1795 Angelique Bouchard would make such a good couple.

Don't tell me that if Barnabas locked Angelique up in the old house and tried to brainwash her into being Josette, that she wouldn't be delighted. This woman is crazy. Her one desire was to replace Josette and have Barnabas as her perfect, loving husband. The Maggie Evans plot ate holes in my brain, also. Everything about it was good.

Barnabas and Angelique were a case of Right People, Wrong Time. If they could have had their craziness and kept it to themselves while enslaving and mind controlling everyone who discovered the truth about them, the world would be a better place.

I love Dark Shadows, I adore the fake out of Dark Shadows, like if you start at the very beginning... Oh, nice young orphan girl gets a job as a governess with a kind of messed up family who seems to be involved in the usual aristocratic nonsense of murder and blackmail and mayhem... And then you get to late season 2 and season 3 (keep in mind episodes are like 22 minutes long at first), and "Hey, you know those ghosts we keep talking about? Lol, no, here is an actual ghost. Two ghosts." A phoenix. TWO PHOENIX. A vampire. BaHRNabus Collins. We're going to cure vampirism. Scientifically. Frankenstein. A witch. A werewolf. Time travel AND past lives. And. They. Were. FRENCH. And not only has one of these cheap bastards probably committed murder for the eighth time this week, I bet they also have unpaid parking tickets.
