D E L U G E D Have you felt like you have been in a state of overwhelm at some point in the last year? I know I certainly have. S C A L E It’s often hard to get a sense of scale with online viewing of art so here I am holding it to help you see it’s size. This is my latest painting for sale through Artist Support Pledge. It was made from a print taken from my paint making slab when I was mulling the paint into watercolour. Then I worked into it with delicate marks encompassing the print. All pigments for this piece were sourced from my local area in North London. S T Y L E How would you describe my style of painting? I would say my style of painting is a combination of abstract, minimalist and maximalist (I know these don’t tend to go together; the shape of the marks I make are minimalist but I paint so many of them I feel like it’s also maximalist too). I like to find the details in my paintings and work methodically through them. Sometimes I use the natural marks made with printing the paint, like this piece here. ‘Encompassed’ was made from a muller print whilst I was making one of my paints. A muller is a piece of equipment used to mix the paint with the binder on a glass slab. They often leave beautiful shapes and marks and I wanted to capture this in a painting. I have worked into this muller print using another pigment collected in London. The painting process is mostly led by the heart rather than the head and I am pleased with how this one turned out. The marks around the edge of the print seem as though they are protecting the inside with a little colourful barrier. What do you think of when you look at this painting?
