17TH-CENTURY SALON FROM THE CHÂTEAU DU MARAIS

Very elaborate 17th-century boiserie scheme from the original (now replaced) Château du Marais, featuring pilasters, ornamented with laurel and oak leaves. Green-painted and gilded finish.

Volume 3, Number 15, March 1, 1824, Third Series Evening Dress

Dress of yellow China crape; the corsage cut bias, made rather high and plain, simply ornamented round the bust with a wheel trimming of the same colour in satin and gauze, composed of ornamented rings placed at equal distances on a circular satin wadded stem or rouleau. The corsage is rather long, and set in a band with satin corded edges, and fastened behind with a rosette to correspond. Tucker of fine blond, drwan at top with a silken thread. Short full sleeve, with perpendicular rows of wheel trimming. The skirt is decorated with the same trimming, only much larger, and with the wadded satin hem at the bottom, gives weight and grace to the folds of the drapery. The hair is arranged in one row of large regular curls; and two long yellow ostrich feathers, tipped with ponceau, are placed on the right side, and bend over the head. Necklace, ear-rings, and bracelets of topaz and turquoise. Embroidered lace scarf with vandyke ends; white kid gloves; white satin shoes.

just a simple drawing of Mammon teasing his opposing angel before getting down to business. Micheal is the angel of charity and doesn’t exactly like displays of wealth, however minute and always complains about it. Mammon and micheal probably get along the most out of the 7 angel demon opposites.
