Orrgo the Unconquerable
The mighty Orrgo is a member of the Mentelleronites, an imperial alien race that think themselves superior to others. Argue was sent to earth to take over the human world and annex it into the Mentelleronite empire. The creature arrived on earth and met little resistance, easily conquering the humans with his incredible powers and sophisticated technology. Orrgo used a hypnotic ray to entrance the entire planet, causing all human life to pledge their allegiance to him.
Exhausted by his efforts, Orrgo then took a nap near a circus. A gorilla who was part of the circus became angered in that he had not been fed due to his handlers being entranced by Orrgo. Surmising that Orrgo was responsible for his not being fed, the gorilla than broke free from its cage and thrashed the creature, apparently killing the alien. The others on Orrgo's world sensed that their brother had been defeated and thus decided not to try to invade Earth again, as they must be more powerful than originally thought.
It was later revealed that Orrgo had not died but was rather severely injured and ended up in the custody of the United States Government. He was handed over to SHIELD who put Orrgo to work as a part of the new Howling Commando unit.
Orrgo first appeared in the pages of Strange Tales #90 (1961).
