Perfect Sunday vibes today. Good people, good music, amazing food, great atmosphere. Couldn’t have wished for a better first Hanami. Massive thank you, especially to Nomu, for organising the whole day!

We drank and eat until maybe around just after 8pm when it started to get a bit chilly. Long long day but so awesome chilling with everyone! Hopefully I will get chance for more Hanami over the next couple of weeks before the cherry blossom disappears for another year!

Today was my first ever Japanese Hanami.
Hanami (花見, "flower viewing") is the Japanese traditional custom of enjoying the transient beauty of flowers; flowers are in this case almost always referring to those of the cherry ("sakura") or less frequently, plum ("ume") trees. From the end of March to early May, cherry trees bloom all over Japan. The blossom forecast (桜前線 sakura-zensen) "cherry blossom front" is announced each year by the weather bureau, and is watched carefully by those planning hanami as the blossoms only last a week or two. In modern-day Japan, hanami mostly consists of having an outdoor party beneath the sakura during daytime or at night. Hanami at night is called yozakura (夜桜) "night sakura".
We went to Osaka Jo in the centre of Osaka. The girls were at the park from 7:30am this morning to save our space! The rest of us arrived just after 10am with all the BBQ equipment.
Osaka Castle (大坂城 or 大阪城, Ōsaka-jō) is a Japanese castle in Chūō-ku, Osaka, Japan. The castle is one of Japan's most famous landmarks and it played a major role in the unification of Japan during the sixteenth century of the Azuchi-Momoyama period.

Welcome to Japan, the land of the rising sun.
I have wanted to come to Japan for many years now. I’m happy to say I love it so far! The people, the beauty, the food... everything has been so satisfying thus far. I have yet to be disappointed. I still have a few months to go, but I think I will enjoy most, if not all my time here. I have always felt a deep connection to Japan, and I have felt it calling me for some time now... I’m happy to say I’ve finally made it.
