Seeing both McLarens happy after a race. I was beginning to think this wasn’t possible.
Who needs drugs when I have today.
That was a shit race. Firstly, I am so, so, happy for Oscar. He's been doing phenomenally his whole career, and now he's a race winner. A sprint winner in his first season, and now a GP winner in his second, after only 35 starts. That's absolutely fucking amazing.
But that race was messy. I think it's important to realize that its not either of the drivers' faults, it was the team's, and I think that Oscar and Lando both know that. If McLaren wanted Oscar to win, they shouldmve given him the undercut since he was ahead anyways, but I think that they're just so used to prioritizing Lando, but yeah. If I was Lando, I would've been pissed as well, but he gave up track position. Like everyone's been saying, Oscar's covered Lando a lot before, and it's definitely not the same as a win, but they will need each other because they're stuck together for at least 2 years after this season, I think. Anyways, both of them were very mature about it, and I think that we should recognize that. I feel sorry for Oscar, though, that his first win will always be tainted by this, and his radio was kind of heartbreaking. Yes, he probably would've been much more subdued than most people, but he started apologizing. He should've been absolutely ecstatic, but McLaren ruined that for him
Moving on to other stuff, I don't think anyone was truly happy other than Sir Lewis Hamilton. Alex was obviously unhappy with the strategy, as well as Max. We all heard his radio. Pierre had to DNF for mechanical issues, three weeks after DNS-ing for mechanical issues in Silverstone, and Esteban apparently asked to retire his car. Alpine, what are you doing? Ferrari did decently for Ferrari these days, though. P4 and P6! Plus, Checo and George managed to get points after that shit quali for them, and this might help Checo (he sorely needs it)
Goodbye, I will not be touching social media for the rest of the week
Just keep watching booming across the track as Oscar is celebrating on the car and taking off his helmet is cinematic
